The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old man, Alabi Anthony, for allegedly raping and killing an elderly woman, Olaseni Veronica, in Iboropa community, Akoko North-East Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the suspect was apprehended following intelligence that led to the tracking of the victim’s missing phone.
He said the suspect confessed to the crime. “The suspect admitted to raping the victim and subsequently strangling her,” Jimoh said.
He described the act as “heinous and inhumane,” assuring that the command would ensure justice is served.
The case has been transferred to the state headquarters in Akure for further investigation and prosecution.
