3 killed as truck crushes motorcycle on one-way in Lagos

The FrontierThe FrontierJanuary 14, 2024 2261 Minutes read0

•Scene of the accident

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority yesterday disclosed that it found two corpses under an empty diesel truck at the Barracks Bus Stop along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.

In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, yesterday, the accident occurred at the same location where a soldier was arrested by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for disobeying traffic laws.

Taofiq said the two corpses that had been found were riders on a motorcycle traveling in a ‘one-way’ direction, reports Sunday PUNCH.

He added that the motorcycle rider passed away at a hospital near Satellite Town, while the other two passengers died at the scene.

The truck driver was said to have lost control of his vehicle due to a burst tire, causing him to crash into a motorcycle that was traveling in one direction along the expressway.

Following the collision, the truck driver fled, but the two dead bodies were removed by policemen from the Onireke police division.

However, the acting General Manager of LASTMA, Bakare Oki, cautioned truck drivers to avoid speeding and also urged motorcycle riders to refrain from riding on all state-wide restricted routes in a single direction.
