•The suspects

The Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested 92 suspected internet fraudsters in Edo State.

They were apprehended in a sting operation on Monday, September 29, 2025, at various locations within Benin City, reports The PUNCH.

According to a statement by the Commission issued via X today, the arrests followed credible intelligence linking the suspects to computer-related crimes.

“All lawful procedures of arrest were followed in the course of the operation,” the EFCC said.

Items recovered from the suspects included 11 vehicles and several mobile devices. Preliminary investigations reportedly linked them to various forms of internet-related fraud.

•Smartphones recovered

The Commission added that the suspects would be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded.

In a similar operation, the EFCC had earlier arrested 28 suspected internet fraudsters in Kwara State on September 23, 2025. The Ilorin Zonal Directorate carried out the arrests in the Tanke, University Road, Oshin, and Agbabiaka areas of the state capital.

Items recovered during the Kwara operation included seven exotic cars, two motorcycles, as well as phones and laptops allegedly used for cybercrime.
