Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, today clashed with ARISE Television anchor, Rufai Oseni, during a live television programme.
Olayinka, who appeared on The Morning Show, refused to respond to questions from Oseni, saying he did not want to engage in a discussion with someone who described other people as “emudani”.
The exchange followed a question from Oseni on the inclusion of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, in the presidential campaign council despite corruption allegations against her, reports Daily Trust.
Rather than answer the question, Olayinka objected to what he said was Oseni’s earlier description of some people as “emudani” and said he would not take questions from the journalist.
“Well, I’m very sorry to say this, Oseni Rufai, I don’t want to answer any question from you. I want to concentrate.
“I want this conversation to be among reasonable human beings, people who will not come and tell, who will not come and describe other people as ‘emudani’,” Olayinka said.
Co-anchor of the programme, Ayo Mairo-Ese, intervened, reminding Olayinka that he was addressing all three anchors, including Reuben Abati, when he agreed to appear on the programme.
She subsequently brought the interview with the minister’s aide to an end, saying he could be invited again when he was “ready to speak to the three of us”.
