Kogi Central: Yahaya Bello makes u-turn, accepts Natasha Akpoti’s victory

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 31, 2023 5431 Minutes read0

•Gov Yahaya Bello and Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

In a surprising turn of events, the Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has said he accepts today’s Appeal Court’s verdict affirming the election of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the Senator representing Kogi Central district.

While conceding, Governor Bello voiced out his acceptance of the verdict to newsmen shortly after he emerged from a meeting of the Police Council which held at the presidential villa in Abuja, with President Bola Tinubu presiding, today, reports Daily Independent.

He called on the people of the state, particularly in Kogi Central where he comes from, to accept the court’s decision and remain law abiding.

Governor Bello who accepted defeat, emphasized that Akpoti-Uduaghan and Abubakar Saddiq who has now lost his seat as the senator representing the zone as well as himself are relations and have no need to quarrel.

He said that it behoves on him as the governor to ensure that everyone lives in peace and harmony in the state.

The governor appealed to citizens not to lose focus but continue to prepare for the November 11 gubernatorial election in the state, which he said the All Progressives Congress (APC) is poised to win by a landslide.
