A community dominated by Tiv in Keana Local Government Area reportedly attacked Alago settlement leaving many wounded and a woman raped to death.

The incident, according to a chieftain and resident of Keana Mr. Amos Baba, disclosed that the attack took place in Keana-Obosidoma road, about 2 kilometres from Keana town, reports Vanguard.

Mr. Amos told our reporter that one Shuaibu Epu, an Alago man was allegedly stabbed by some rampaging youths in his farm during the attack community and still in the hospital receiving treatment.

According to Amos, a pregnant Koro woman was raped during the attack by the miscreants and later died while receiving treatment at the Dalhatu Arafat Specialist Hospital, DASH Lafia.

Amos however commended the swift military intervention in the attack which prevented escalation of the crisis.

In a reaction, the president of the Mzough U Tiv MUT Nasarawa State chapter, Mr. Phillip Nongu, alleged that some Tiv youths who wanted to make peace with the Alago youths over the attack that led to the death of a woman, were killed in a reprisal attack.

The two Tiv youths that were killed according to Mr. Philip are John Iwar and Verior Vitalis Utime.

The President of the Tiv organizations who confirmed this to journalists in Lafia the state capital yesterday blamed the death of the duo on the failure of the military to restrain the irate Alago youths from carrying out a reprisal attack on the Tiv youths who came together in search of peace.

He however called on the warring parties to shit their sword, noting that violence does not bring Development.

He called on them to live in peace.
