Protests: Threats won’t end hunger – DJ Switch blasts Wike, Asari Dokubo

Nigerian DJ Obianuju Catherine Udeh, known as DJ Switch, has challenged Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike and Niger Delta activist Asari Dokubo to tackle the root causes of hunger rather than resort to threats.

On Thursday, Nigerians launched a nationwide protest titled “10 Days of Rage” under the hashtag #EndBadGovernance, drawing attention to the country’s economic difficulties, reports Saturday Vanguard.

Recall that before the demonstration, Asari Dokubo cautioned organisers not to bring the protest to the region, asserting that their agenda does not address local concerns.

He stated, “I and all those who believe in me and those of you who are committed to the interest of the Niger Delta, we are not going to be part of any protest. It is as clear as that.

“If anybody has the right to protest, I also have the right to resist protest. Where your right stops, that is where my right begins. ”

Similarly, Nyesom Wike, during a security council meeting in Abuja on Thursday, reported intelligence suggesting that the protesters may intend to damage property. He added that a senator suspected of sponsoring the protest has been identified.

In response, DJ Switch took to her X handle yesterday to challenge Wike and Asari Dokubo, daring them to “come outside” and confront the protesters directly.

She wrote, “The only thing that can stop HUNGER is FOOD! Not guns, not teargas, not threats from fat globs like Asari Dokubo and chicken feed Wike! I wonder why they are hiding now…. Come outside let them eat you raw!”

In an earlier post on August 1, she urged Nigerians to view the hunger protest as a vital chance to demand better governance in the country.
