The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 29, 2024 1,3760 Minutes read0

•Late CP Waheed Ayilara

The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara, has tragically passed away.

Ayilara, who had been battling health issues, died in the early hours of today at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja, reports Nigerian Tribune.

According to sources close to the family, Ayilara had undergone surgery for prostate cancer yesterday.

Sadly, he passed away just hours after the procedure.

A family member, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

“We are very sad to inform you that our friend, brother, and family member, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara, is dead,” the source said, reflecting the family’s grief.

Further details regarding his passing are expected to be released shortly.

Efforts by The Frontier to speak with the state Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on the reported death were not successful as her phone repeatedly rang engaged.
