For 24 years, International Foundation for African Children (IFAC) has uplifted African children and communities with resources in education, healthcare, and sustainable development.
This year, it is showcasing its values, mission, and partnership-sponsors as the only Nigerian NGO in COP29 with a booth at the side events, reports The Nation.
Climate change has impacted vulnerable African communities, and IFAC’s presence at COP29 shows its commitment to advocating for children whose futures are most at risk.
COP29 summit provides a platform for IFAC to highlight challenges faced by African children as environmental disruptions affect food, clean water, healthcare, and education. IFAC’s goal is to amplify these issues and secure support to create a more resilient future for the African youth.
Onyekachi Joseph, director, noted the organisation’s dedication to advancing its mission in the face of these challenges.
“Climate change affects everyone, but it affects children in Africa in devastating ways,” said Joseph.
“They face an uncertain future with limited access to resources many take for granted. We are here to ensure their voices are heard, their needs prioritised, and their future safeguarded. COP29 is an opportunity to create partnerships, impact policies to bring resources back to these communities, helping them adapt and thrive.”
Representing IFAC at COP29 are its director, president, and other executive members, all committed to strengthening IFAC’s impact on global stage.
By engaging in discussions with leaders, they aim to build a network of support for the foundation’s programmes and advocate the needs of African children facing climate-related risks.
As COP29 progresses, IFAC’s team is focused on creating solutions to benefit African children long-term. With the goal of returning home with tools, resources, and alliances, IFAC hopes to lead climate-resilient initiatives to foster safe and healthy environments for African children. Having represented the NGO community at COP for over a decade, IFAC reminds the world young lives are affected by environmental decisions. With its presence, IFAC is setting the foundation for a future where African children can grow up with opportunities they deserve.
