Petroleum marketers threaten strike over N100 billion unpaid bridging claims, issues 7-day ultimatum

The FrontierThe FrontierFebruary 24, 2025 2400 Minutes read0

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to pay outstanding bridging claims totaling N100 billion.

IPMAN has threatened to withdraw its services nationwide if the payment is not received within the stipulated timeframe, reports The Guardian.

The ultimatum follows the NMDPRA’s alleged failure to address the debt, despite promises made 40 days prior in the presence of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.

The unpaid claims, dating back to 2024, represent funds deducted from marketers’ product payments meant for bridging allowances.

Yahaya Alhasan, Chairman of the IPMAN Depot Chairmen Forum, announced during a press conference in Abuja today.

Reading from a communique, Alhasan expressed dismay over the NMDPRA’s inaction, stating, “If NMDPRA doesn’t pay our money within seven days, we are going to withdraw our services across the nation.”
