Middlebelt Youth Forum asks EFCC to stop witch hunt of billionaire businesswoman Aisha Achimugu

The Middlebelt Youth Forum (MBYF) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to end what it describes as a political witch hunt against businesswoman Aisha Achimugu.

The EFCC recently declared Achimugu wanted in connection with an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering, reports The Guardian.

This was announced by the agency’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, in a public notice shared through the commission’s official X handle today.

In response, the Middlebelt Youth Forum, through its spokesperson, Comrade Godwin M., criticised the EFCC’s action, describing the allegations as baseless and an attempt to damage Achimugu’s reputation.

The group stated that Achimugu, who operates in the oil and gas sector, is a self-made businesswoman with no involvement in political financing or money laundering.

They also refuted claims linking her to political figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, or the Lagos State Government.

The forum urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and ensure that the EFCC adheres to the rule of law, aligning with his administration’s commitment to due process.

The group further emphasised Achimugu’s contributions to youth and women empowerment, describing her as a committed entrepreneur who has positively impacted many lives.

The group called for an immediate withdrawal of the allegations, insisting that the EFCC’s actions amounted to character assassination and could disrupt her business interests.
