•A mango tree

An 11-year-old boy, identified as Joshua Samson, has died after falling from a mango tree at Bugakwo village in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.

A resident of Bugakwo, simply identified as Danjuma, said the incident happened on Saturday, when the deceased climbed a mango tree in the community, reports Daily Trust.

He said the boy climbed the mango tree to pluck mangoes, but slipped from one of the branches and fell down.

He said one of the boys with whom they went to pluck mangoes ran back home in tears to report the incident to the parents, who rushed to the scene to convey him to hospital.

He said the boy died after he hit his head on a stone under the mango tree, saying the remains of the boy had been buried.

“Medical personnel at the health centre in Kwaku confirmed him dead due to serious head injuries,” he said.

Danjuma said the incident was not reported to any security outfit by the parents of the deceased.
