FG revokes allocation of houses without Expression of Interest forms

The federal government has revoked the provisional offer of allocation of houses that elapsed between March 10, 2022 and October 18, 2023 without Expression of Interest forms.

In a statement, the permanent secretary of Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, M. Mamman said that the affected subscribers are free to re-apply by completing the Expression of Interest forms, reports Daily Sun.

According to him, the federal government has decided to revise the conditions and procedures of sales of houses under the National Housing Programme, stating that the new sales process is the completion of Expression of Interest form.

“Interested subscribers who were offered a provisional offer of allocation that elapsed between March 10, 2022 and October 18, 2023 are free to re-apply by completing the Expression of Interest form.

“All interested subscribers are to obtain the Expression of Interest form from the Office of the Controllers of Housing and Urban Development of the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at no cost,” he said.

But for the diaspora Nigerians, he urged them to obtain their Expression of Interest forms from the diaspora commission.

“Nigerians in the diaspora who are interested in subscribing to the houses are to obtain their expression of interest forms from the office of the chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission” the statement, further explained.

In another development, the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has denied allegations that it’s planning to demolish about 1500 houses in the Zhidu Community near Lugbe Phase 11 Abuja.

In a statement, FHA explained that it acquired the land from the Federal Capital Territory Development Administration (FCDA) and duly compensated the farmers.

But it discovered that squatters have encroached on the land.

As a result of this, FHA moved to remove the illegal structures on the land.

“Federal Housing Authority (FHA) acquired a parcel of land from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) for housing development and went on to carry out enumeration exercise and subsequently paid compensation to the farmers.

“In the course of carrying out pre – developmental exercises, it was discovered that some squatters have encroached on some portion of the land belonging to the Authority. To complicate the matter, the illegal development happens to be at the right of way of the Ring Road Three that services the entire area.

“Consequently, the Authority and FCDA, (about eight months ago) embarked on the identification of all the developments that fell within FHA’s land and the Ring Road Three (for removal) to pave way for the development of the land. The Authority went on to call on all persons laying genuine claims to the land to come forward with proof of ownership and approval to build, for documentation.

“It is, therefore, surprising that some persons would come up with outlandish claims that Federal Housing Authority is planning to demolish the entire Zhidu Community, giving them only two weeks’ notice.

“The authority would not be distracted or deterred by the ambush tactics of the acclaimed leaders of the community, who are whipping up unnecessary public sentiments. FHA would never accommodate any slum development within any of its estates.

“We reiterate that persons with genuine claims to any portion of land in the said community that fell within FHA’s parcel of land should come forward with all relevant documents and approval to develop for documentation” the statement noted.
