Midfield maestro Eberechi Eze pushes for Tottenham move, eyes Champions League glory

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 12, 2025 1151 Minutes read0

•Eberechi Eze

England and Crystal Palace’s midfielder, Eberechi Eze, has reportedly expressed a strong desire to join Tottenham Hotspur, driven by the prospect of playing Champions League football following Spurs’ Europa League triumph.

In a post obtained from Frabrizio Romano’s X today, Eberechi Eze is keen on a Tottenham move as Palace are informed of his desire to play Champions League football. Deal now depends on club-to-club talks, but Spurs are seriously working on it, as reported earlier.”

According to multiple sources, including Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sports, Tottenham have reignited their long-standing interest in Eze, with talks underway with Crystal Palace.

The move is spurred by injuries to key Spurs players, notably James Maddison (ACL rupture) and Dejan Kulusevski (knee surgery), leaving new manager Thomas Frank in need of creative attacking options.

Eze, who scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 43 appearances during the 2024-25 season, is seen as a prime target to fill this gap.

The deal now hinges on club-to-club negotiations, as Eze’s £68m release clause expired on August 8, 2025, requiring Tottenham to negotiate directly with Palace, who may demand a fee around £60m plus add-ons.

Eze is reportedly open to the move, with sources indicating he is “keen” on joining Spurs, though Arsenal remains a competing interest, with Eze previously stating a “dream” to play for the Gunners, who released him at age 13.

Arsenal’s pursuit is complicated by their need to sell players like Leandro Trossard to fund the transfer, giving Spurs an edge.
