Lagos shuts hotels, school, firm, others over environmental offences

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 16, 2025 1421 Minutes read0

•LASEPA officials

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has intensified crackdown on environmental offenders, sealing several establishments in Ikorodu for repeated violations, including noise pollution and other environmental infractions.

The enforcement operation, carried out, targeted key areas such as Agodo Gas Line, Odogunyan Industrial Layout, Ita Oluwo Junction, Haruna, Ipakodo Road, and Ebute, reports The Nation.

The affected facilities comprised hotels, lounges, bars, and industrial firms found guilty of flouting the state’s environmental standards.

Among the establishments sealed by LASEPA were Zero Square Bar & Lounge, Starex Poly, Oloruntele Poly, Limpex Resources, Skipper Nigeria Ltd, Star Rain Nigeria Limited, NDO Hotel & Suites, Embassy Lounge, Beechwood Guest House, Obas Hotel & Suites, and A-Star Pencil.

Speaking during the operation, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding the environment and public health across Lagos State.

“Noise pollution and other environmental abuses threaten the quality of life and well-being of our people. Today’s enforcement exercise demonstrates our resolve to uphold the state’s environmental standards and promote a cleaner, healthier Lagos,” Ajayi stated.

He emphasised that the exercise was part of the agency’s broader efforts to restore environmental sanity and ensure compliance with regulations designed to protect residents from harmful practices.

Ajayi further appealed to residents and business operators to adhere strictly to environmental laws, warning that the agency would sustain its zero-tolerance stance against all forms of environmental degradation.
