Yoruba group warns of Islamisation plot, urges Southwest to brace for US strike

Socio-cultural group, Alliance for Yoruba Democratic Movements, AYDM, has warned that there is an open agenda to Islamise Nigeria, saying while there are mass killings of Christians, Yoruba and Middle Belt Muslims have also been victims.

AYDM urged governors of South-West states and those in Kogi and Kwara states to prepare for the possible fallout of the proposed United States strike on terrorist cells in Nigeria, reports Sunday Vanguard.

The group, in a statement by General Secretary, Popoola Ajayi and Publicity Secretary, Suleiman Sanusi, said because the US strike might drive the terrorists away from their Northern hideouts, it could make them migrate to the South-West for cover.

According to the group, those opposing the proposed US action on grounds of sovereignty had forgotten that the country’s leaders had been docile in dealing with the killings and pillage of public resources.

The group identified terrorism as one of the challenges facing Nigeria, saying: “It is obvious that Nigeria has no power to stop the US proposed strike. Unfortunately, the tradition of funding proxy protests and sponsored propaganda has no effect in this case. What is wise is for government at the state and national levels to prepare for the consequences and manage the situation in a way that the dignity of Yoruba nation will be preserved.”

AYDM said: “You cannot heal a nation without speaking the truth. There is an open agenda to Islamise Nigeria.

Thousands of people have been killed. Yoruba are direct victims. The agenda is to Islamise Nigeria. That is the truth. Their agents in Yorubaland are those proposing Sharia in Yorubaland.

They failed to listen to the voice of reason until the Trump tweet. The Yoruba people are left with no option than to define its own strategy of response to the fallout of the almost imminent strike.”

They urged the South-West governors to work with Yoruba self-determination groups on intelligence gathering, data collation and community defence to protect Yoruba indigenous territories from further terrorist invasion.

AYDM said: “The proposed US strike will not stop the agenda of those pushing for Jihad in Nigeria. The only way is for Yoruba people on their own to mobilise to stop extremist incursion. Nigeria is in the same situation as the Soviet Union in 1991.”

The country faces the prospect of war or peaceful breakup.

“Why Mr Trump is being castigated by some Nigerian leaders, they fail to admit that the irresponsible, corrupt leadership and the failure to stop chilling violence drew the attention of Mr Trump. Nigerian streets are flowing with innocent human blood while the political elite take elections as the most important task”.
