JUST IN: Three feared dead as thugs disrupt ongoing APC Ward Congress in Ondo

The FrontierThe FrontierFebruary 18, 2026 1020 Minutes read0

At least three persons have been feared dead in the ongoing ward congress of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State.

A vehicle said to belong to a party stalwart was also set ablaze, reports The Nation.

The incident occurred today as political thugs suspected to be loyal to members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) invaded the venue of the ward congress, shooting sporadically into the air.

The thugs, according to witnesses, disrupted the exercise, leading to multiple injuries and extensive property damage.

It was gathered that one of the casualties is the family of a prominent APC chieftain in the local government.

Jimoh Abayomi, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, was not immediately available for comments when contacted.

However, the main reason behind the violence is still sketchy as of the time of filing this report.
