ADC schedules ward, LG, state congresses ahead of April 14 national convention

The FrontierThe FrontierMarch 15, 2026 451 Minutes read0

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has fixed April 14, 2026, for its National Convention as part of activities to renew the party’s leadership structures nationwide.

This was disclosed in the official schedule of activities for the conduct of the party’s 2026 congresses and National Convention released late yesterday, reports The Nation.

According to a public notice signed by the National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, and the national publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the exercise is intended to restructure the party’s leadership from the grassroots to the national level.

The notice stated that the process would begin at the polling unit and Ward levels before progressing through Local government (LG) and State congresses ahead of the national convention.

“This process forms part of the party’s constitutional responsibility to renew its leadership structures across all levels of the organisation, beginning from the polling units and wards through the Local government and State levels, culminating in the National Convention,” the statement said.

The timetable released by the party showed that polling unit and ward congresses will hold on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, LG congresses are scheduled for Thursday, April 9, while State congresses will take place on Saturday, April 11.

The process will culminate in the National Convention on Tuesday, April 14, the notice revealed.

The party advised members interested in contesting vacant positions at the ward, local government or state levels to obtain and complete the relevant nomination or expression of interest forms through the party’s official platform.

The party stated that forms and additional information are available on the party’s website, while members across the country have been encouraged to participate actively in the exercise.

It also urged members to conduct themselves in line with its constitution, guidelines and democratic values throughout the congress process.
