ADC leadership: Former Vice President Atiku reacts to Supreme Court ruling

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said Nigeria’s opposition struggle is far from over despite the Supreme Court’s affirmation of the David Mark leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Reacting shortly after the apex court upheld Mark as leader of the party, Atiku cautioned supporters against complacency, warning that more work lies ahead in the effort to “rescue” the country, reports Daily Trust.

In a statement posted on his official social media handle, the presidential aspirant described the ruling as a significant milestone, but stressed that it should not be mistaken for final victory.

“Even as we welcome the Supreme Court’s firm affirmation of David Mark and the leadership of our great party, the African Democratic Congress, let no one be lulled into complacency. The road ahead remains long in our cause to take back and rescue our country,” he said.

Atiku dedicated the outcome of the legal battle to Nigerians, whom he described as resilient and determined in the face of political and economic challenges.

“This victory belongs to Nigerians, the courageous millions who refuse to surrender their future. We thank them, and we urge them to remain steadfast, because the struggle is far from over,” he added.

The former vice president further called for sustained vigilance among citizens, noting that democratic gains must be protected through continued engagement and unity of purpose.

“As we press on, let this truth guide us: eternal vigilance is the price of liberty,” he stated.
