•Part of the church destroyed by fire

A popular church, Household of David Church, situated at Adeniyi Jones Street, Ikeja Lagos, was gutted by fire this morning.

This was confirmed to this paper by the National Emergency Management Agency, saying the fire was successfully put out, reports Vanguard.

NEMA disclosed that the fire began around 11 am at the rear of the church, and was noticed by passersby who drew the attention of the indoor workers.

The disaster management agency also said that no injury or casualty was recorded in the fire incident.

The statement by NEMA read, “A fire outbreak at Household of David Church located at Surulere Industrial Road, off Adeniyi Jones Ikeja Lagos occurrence has been successfully put out by responders.

“The fire which started at about 0011 hours at the rear of the church was not noticed by the church workers but by passersby who drew the attention of the indoor workers to the incident.

“No one sustained injury or casualty recorded.

“The church had organised a 5-day crusade starting from this evening by 1700 and ending on the 4th of February, 2024.

“The premises were said to have been leased, insured, and hired by the Church.

“It was found out that due to the expected turnout of congregants for the crusade, the Church workers had been trained by the Fire Service to prepare for any eventualities.

“Agencies on ground are NEMA, Lagos State Building Control Agency, Lagos Emergency Management Agency, State Fire Service and the Police.”
