Tragedy struck on Thursday, December 11, 2025, when a section of a dilapidated building collapsed at Nwachukwu Street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, killing a mother of three, Mrs Uwana Dennis, from Akwa Ibom State.

The unfortunate incident, which left many residents in shock, occurred around 10:30 a.m, reports Saturday Independent.

According to an eyewitness, the collapsing portion of the structure fell directly on the victims, causing fatal injuries, killing them on the spot.

Police officers from the Azikiwe Division in Illabouchi who arrived at the scene shortly after the accident, evacuated the bodies to a mortuary.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, adding that a thorough investigation is underway.
