A boy has been confirmed dead while several worshippers sustained injuries following an attack by suspected bandits on a mosque during Maghrib prayers in Namama community, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident was reported in a post on X today by security analyst Bakatsine.

According to the report, the gunmen invaded the mosque as worshippers were observing their evening prayers in heavy rainfall and began shooting sporadically, leaving multiple people wounded inside the place of worship.

The attack reportedly led to the death of a young boy identified as Adamu, while several other worshippers sustained injuries and were rushed for medical attention.

“Yesterday evening, bandits attacked worshippers during Maghrib prayers at a mosque in Namama community, Giwa LGA of Kaduna State, amid heavy rainfall. The attackers opened fire indiscriminately, killing a young boy identified as Adamu and injuring several other worshippers,” Bakatsine wrote.

According to Bakatsine, prayers are also ongoing for the recovery of those injured.

“How many more civilians must lose their lives in places of worship before effective measures are taken to protect vulnerable communities?,” he asked.
