FG allocates two additional crude oil terminals to shipment agent

The FrontierThe FrontierJune 17, 2026 1131 Minutes read0

The federal government, through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has announced the allocation of two additional crude oil terminals to Swede Control Intertek Limited, a pre-shipment inspection agent.

The decision was contained in a statement signed by the Director of the CBN’s Trade and Exchange Department, Aderinola Shonekan.

According to the apex bank, the newly allocated terminals are the Cawthorne and Okwok terminals.

The CBN said the allocation is part of ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and transparency in crude oil export operations.

“This is to notify all Authorised Dealer Banks, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, all terminal operators, oil and gas companies and the general public of the Federal Government’s allocation of additional crude oil terminals to Swede Control Intertek Limited, namely: Cawthorne Terminal and Okwok Terminal,” the statement read.

Recall that in April 2025, the CBN restructured terminal allocations to Swede Control Intertek Ltd and other Pre-Shipment Inspection Agents (PIAs) in the crude oil and gas sector.

The move was aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring greater transparency in Nigeria’s crude oil export processes.

In a previous circular signed by A.A. Mahdi of the Trade and Exchange Department, the apex bank outlined revised terminal assignments that replaced earlier allocations.

Under the earlier arrangement, Swede Control Intertek Ltd was assigned to Ima (Otahihvo), ERHA and Aarca terminals.

Other allocations included Neroh Technologies Ltd assigned to Nembe Terminal; Holborn Oil and Gas International Ltd to Isan, Enna and Yoho terminals; and Felton Energy & Investment Ltd to Tunu, Antan and Odudu terminals.
