Agric ministry plans prayer, fasting to tackle food insecurity

The FrontierThe FrontierJune 14, 2025 1431 Minutes read0

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has issued an internal circular calling on all its staff to participate in a series of prayer and fasting sessions aimed at seeking “divine intervention for protection and national development” to address the nation’s pressing food insecurity challenges.

The circular, dated June 11, 2025, was signed by the Director of Human Resource Management, Mrs. Adedayo Modupe O., and obtained from the ministry’s official X (formerly Twitter) platform today, reports Saturday PUNCH.

The circular invites all directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, value chain desk officers, and other staff members to a solemn prayer session.

“This is to invite all staff of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to a solemn prayer session for God’s guidance and success in supporting the government’s efforts to achieve food security,” the circular stated.

The theme for these sessions is “Divine Intervention for Protection and National Development.”

The prayer sessions are scheduled to take place at Conference Hall “B” of the FMAFS headquarters in Area 11, Abuja, from 12:00pm to 12:30pm prompt on June 16, 23, and 30, 2025.

Staff members were requested to “come fasting” on those days.

Reached for comment, a source within the ministry who preferred anonymity, emphasised the gravity of the situation.

“We are facing significant hurdles in achieving our food security targets.

“While we are implementing various policies and programmes, we believe that divine guidance is equally crucial for us to overcome these challenges and ensure every Nigerian has access to sufficient and nutritious food”, the source said.
