The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Waheed Ayilara, has concluded his maiden tour of the 31 Local Government Areas, Area commands, Divisions and Formations within the Command.

The tour which commenced on May 15, 2024 ended on July 4, 2024, with the police boss calling for strategic partnership from all stakeholders towards the prevention of crime in the state.

The purpose of the state wide tour, according to a statement issued today by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Timfon John, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, and made available to The Frontier, was to assess the conditions of the Divisions, engage with stakeholders, deepen local intelligence and also meet with members of communities in the state.

“During the tour, CP Ayilara met with all the 31 Local Government Chairmen, Traditional Rulers, Divisional Police Officers and critical stakeholders,” said the police spokesperson.

Continuing, John said,

“CP Ayilara who reiterated his commitment in providing security for lives and properties in the state, said that his doors are always open for constructive criticism and contributions from the good citizens and public spirited individuals in Akwa Ibom State as he is in the state not as a master but a servant poised to serve diligently.

“CP Ayilara while soliciting the support of the Local Government Chairmen and stakeholders in curbing crimes in the state, maintained that the police under his command will continue to design and deploy strategic security measures to prevent crime in Akwa Ibom State.

“The CP assured the communities that the Command under his leadership will continue to work towards safeguarding the rights of the citizens of the state by the already established Police Complaint Response Unit within the Command.

“After directly interacting with Police Officers within the Area Commands, Divisions and Formations, he assured them of management’s commitment in pursuing the welfare of officers and men and urged them to continue to conduct themselves professionally.

He cautioned against unprofessional conduct by officers and men as management will not hesitate in dealing with anyone involved in misconduct and unprofessional acts.”
