APC leaders in Oyo reject congress, seek a review

The FrontierThe FrontierApril 9, 2026 681 Minutes read0

Chieftains and leaders of APC in Lagelu council of Oyo State have rejected outcome of the congress in the area.

The position was conveyed in a petition to the state chairman, reports The Nation.

Signatories include Chief Ajuwon Olusegun (Ward 2), Mrs Jemilat Ajimobi (Ward 4), Alhaji Chazali Ajani (Ward 1), Fadiran Ilelabayo (Ward 12), Gbenga Ogeye (Ward 3), Toriola Oyesomi (Ward 8), and Sulaiman Soladoye (Ward 14).

The leaders decried the conduct and outcome of the congress, calling for a review and urging adoption of a harmonised list of council executives approved by the party in Abuja. They called for implementation of the harmonised list for ward executives.

They said stakeholders in the 14 wards had agreed on a consensus list to promote unity in the party at the grassroots level. The group, however, said the outcome did not reflect that agreement.

The leaders urged the state leadership of the party to ensure adherence to due process and provide clear guidance to strengthen internal cohesion and stability in the council chapter.

They warned unresolved concerns could affect APC’s prospects.

Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare, confirmed that the leadership was aware of concerns raised in some councils. He said efforts were on to address the issues.

“We are aware of grievances. There are complaints and challenges, and the party is working to resolve them. Members are encouraged to be patient as mechanisms are being applied to address all concerns,” he said.
