•Atiku jets out
Former vice president of Nigeria and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku, Abubakar has left the country for Europe.
In a statement released today, Wednesday, June 26, Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe revealed this and said that Atiku departed the nation via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at approximately 11 a.m. Atiku leaves Nigeria for a brief business trip in Europe.
Ibe claimed that Atiku’s business trip was brief, but he did not say when the former vice president would return to Nigeria.
The statement reads in part: “The former vice president departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at 11 AM on Wednesday, the 26th of June, 2024, for his first port of call “
“His friends, family, and associates escorted him to the airport.”
This occurs just five days after the former vice president paid a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his country residence in Daura, Katsina State.
Many political analysts have stated that the prominent opposition figure’s visit to Buhari, the head of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was a ploy in advance of the 2027 election, despite the fact that he had claimed it was to show the Nigerian leader the respect he so richly deserved.
Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna Central who served in the Eighth Senate, was among the prominent people who offered commentary on the event.
