Bayelsa LG poll: PDP wins eight chairmanship, 105 legislative seats

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has clinched the eight chairmanship positions and legislative seats in the 105 wards in the just concluded council elections in the eight local government areas of Bayelsa.
Although the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP) boycotted the election conducted by the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC), the exercise was adjudged to be peaceful by independent observers, reports Nigerian Tribune.
Declaring the result in Ogbia LGA the returning officer of BYSIEC, Dr Godric Tam Deinduomo declared Honourable Golden Jeremiah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner after polling a total of 42,462 votes.
Meanwhile, in Southern Ijaw LGA the Returning Officer of BYSIEC, Dr Ebi Stanley Udisi, declared Mr Target Segibo of the PDP winner of the election after he polled 36,326 votes.
In Ekeremor LGA, Mr Onniye Isaac of the PDP with a total of 35,177 votes was declared winner of the election by the Returning Officer, Professor Joseph Omoro, while in Sagbama Local Government Council, Mrs Alice Allen Tangi of the PDP polled a total of 51,543 votes to win the contest.
Also, in Kolokuma-Opokuma LGA, Mr Leilei Tariye of the PDP was declared winner after polling a total of 27,823 votes, while Mr Bulodisiye Ndiwari was declared as the mayor of Yenagoa LGA by the returning officer, Chief Wisdom Soreh, after polling 56,103 votes.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Chief Abraham Ingobere, commended voters in Brass Local Government Area for their peaceful and orderly conduct in the election.
