Emergency response agencies have launched rescue operations following a boat accident in Gorau village, Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The boat reportedly capsized today while carrying passengers across a waterway in the community.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of people on board and the passengers’ fate remained unconfirmed.
Officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and the Sokoto State Government mobilised to the scene to coordinate rescue efforts and assess the situation.
The emergency teams are expected to determine the cause of the incident, establish the number of casualties or survivors, and support ongoing search-and-rescue operations.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident but are expected to provide updates as rescue efforts continue and more verified information becomes available.
