INSIDE AKWA IBOM TODAY: APC stakeholders endorse Tinubu, Akpabio, Gov Eno as sole candidates for 2027

…As Governor Eno hosts party stakeholders in Uyo, urging leaders to stay united

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno as the sole candidates of the party for the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was the high point of an enlarged Stakeholders’ Meeting of the party held yesterday, Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo. The meeting was presided over by the Leader of the Party in the state and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno.

In attendance were key party figures, including the Senate President, represented by his wife, Her Excellency Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio; the Deputy Governor; the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly; members of the National and State Assemblies; former Deputy Governors; Commissioners; Local Government Chairmen; former Minister of Petroleum, Chief Don Etiebet; former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Effiong Bob; Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien; former Ambassador to Russia, Chief Assam Assam, SAN; the APC State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo; and stakeholders from all 31 Local Government Areas.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Umo Eno urged party leaders to put the past behind them and work in unity to build a stronger APC in the state.

“We must work to build the party in unity and togetherness. We have come with open minds and open hearts so that we can unite our state,” the governor stated, adding: “Forget the past and forgive each other so we can forge ahead. Politics is a game of give and take — we must see it as such.”

Delivering the message of the Senate President, Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio described Governor Eno as “a man of peace on a mission to unite Akwa Ibom,” and urged him to remain committed to the task of developing the state.

The APC State Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, pledged the loyalty and support of the party to the governor, reaffirming his leadership in the state and assuring that the party’s machinery would be fully mobilised to ensure his continued success.

Several stakeholders —including Chief Don Etiebet, Senator Effiong Bob, and Chief Assam Assam, SAN, commended Governor Eno’s inclusive leadership style and unifying efforts, describing the meeting as historic and unprecedented in the state’s political history.

A communiqué issued at the end of the meeting contained ten key resolutions, including a vote of confidence in President Tinubu, Senate President Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno, and their unanimous endorsement as the APC’s sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The communiqué further commended President Tinubu for his bold economic reforms, praised Senator Akpabio for his contributions to the South-South region, and lauded the leadership of Obong Ntukekpo in steering the party in the state.

The Stakeholders’ Meeting marked a major milestone in the repositioning of the APC in Akwa Ibom, sending a strong message of unity, reconciliation, and renewed political direction under the leadership of Governor Umo Eno.
