The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced a new minimum wage of Eighty Thousand Naira (N80,000) for civil servants in the oil-rich state.
This was disclosed this afternoon in a memo issued by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong and sighted by The Frontier.
“To ensure a smooth rollout
if this policy, the governor has also constituted an implementation committee, which has been given one month to deliver its report on how the new wage will be executed,” said Ememobong.
The 15-man implementation committee is chaired by the Head of Service.
According to the memo, this announcement is reflective of the state government’s commitment to improving the welfare of its workforce.
