BREAKING: Many feared dead as storey building collapses in Lagos

A three-storey building has collapsed in the Alakija area of Lagos State, with several people feared trapped beneath the rubble.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 11:40 am today, and the exact number of persons trapped could not be immediately ascertained, reports The PUNCH.

As of the time of filing this report, emergency responders and rescue operators had yet to arrive at the scene, while anxious residents and bystanders gathered around the collapsed structure, awaiting intervention.

Further details on casualties or the cause of the collapse were not immediately available.

Authorities are expected to commence rescue operations as efforts intensify to account for those feared trapped in the debris.
