Cash scarcity hits Imo as banks begin low payments to customers

The FrontierThe FrontierDecember 10, 2023 3300 Minutes read0

There is a scarcity of money in the commercial banks in Imo State, leading to commercial banks starting to make low cash payments to their customers.

This situation has continued to cause concerns for bank customers as they are unable to withdraw the actual amounts they intended to collect from the bank, reports Sunday Tribune.

A bank customer at one of the commercial banks, seeking to withdraw N100,000, was only paid N20,000.

The customer stated that the bank staff informed him there was insufficient cash available for the full withdrawal.

This situation has sparked panic and disappointment among people, particularly during this festive period when shopping for food items in the market is common.

A bank customer in Owerri, Mr. Kingsley Amadi, expressed serious concerns about this situation, emphasizing that the current policy of the bank would undoubtedly worsen the issues faced by Nigerians.
