Chelsea condemn racist attacks on Fofana after Arsenal loss

Chelsea Football Club has strongly condemned the online racial abuse directed at defender Wesley Fofana following their latest fixture.

The footballer, today, shared messages he received after the match on his Instagram story saying, “2025, stupidity and cruelty no longer hide…It’s not just football, it’s not just a “game” when some believe that their skin color makes the superior to others. It’s time for things to change, for platforms to take action, and for everyone to take responsibility.”

Meanwhile, in an official statement on Monday via their site, the club expressed its “appallment and disgust” over the rising incidents of online racism targeting its players.

“The abuse Wes Fofana has been subjected to following yesterday’s fixture is abhorrent and will not be tolerated,” Chelsea stated.

The club reaffirmed its full support for Fofana and pledged to collaborate with relevant authorities to identify those responsible.

“We will work with the relevant authorities in identifying the perpetrators and take the strongest possible action,” the statement added.

Chelsea lost 1-0 to Arsenal, on Sunday, edged out, and remained in fourth position in the Premier League title race.

The fiercely contested London derby at the Emirates Stadium came to a decisive moment in the 20th minute when Mikel Merino headed in a corner delivered by Martin Odegaard.
