Climate change crisis: GreenTech Accelerator Centre unveiled in Abuja to birth solutions

The FrontierThe FrontierApril 8, 2025 3022 Minutes read0

As the world continues to grapple with the climate change crisis, a tech-driven firm, based in Nigeria, Netzence has unveiled a one-stop hub in the nation’s capital, where young experts with innovative skills can meet to breed solutions.

The firm under the auspices of Netzence Sustainability Limited is a brain child of Dr. Sadiq Sani, reports Daily Independent.

While speaking at the unveiling ceremony, its Founder and CEO, Dr. Sani, emphasised on the urgency of eliminating challenges associated with climate change.

He insisted that technology plays a pivotal role in bringing meaningful solutions. Saying “Climate change is not just an environmental issue; it is an existential threat that requires immediate and collective action”.

Buttressing his argument further, Sani said technology holds greater prospects to unlock sustainable solutions, adding that the innovation Centre will empower young minds to deliver solutions that will help us achieve a net-zero future.

The rounder equally noted that his inspiration behind unveiling the Centre was to deliver groundbreaking technologies that will redefine sustainability practices and set new standards for environmental stewardship and sustainability.

Sani stated, “The Netzence Innovation Centre is more than just a physical space with hardware and software technologies; it is a dynamic ecosystem designed to foster collaboration, creativity, and knowledge-sharing.

“Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the centre features advanced research labs, collaborative workspaces, and incubation hubs for organizations including startups focused on sustainability.

“It will serve as a platform for cross-sector partnerships, bringing together governments, businesses, academia, and civil society to co-create solutions that address the multifaceted challenges of climate change.

“One of the Centre’s flagship initiatives is the “GreenTech Accelerator Programme,” which aims to identify, nurture, and scale innovative startups developing sustainable technologies. Selected startups will receive mentorship, funding, and access to Netzence’s global network of experts, enabling them to bring their ideas to life and make a tangible impact on the environment”.

He said his commitment to empowering young Nigerians who are passionate about driving change in the tech industry has never waned, adding that Netzence Innovation Centre will serve as a training ground for aspiring tech professionals, offering specialized programs in areas such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, circular economy, and climate data analytics.

“Nigeria is home to some of the brightest minds in the world, and we believe that young people have the power to transform our planet. By investing in their education and providing them with the tools to innovate, we are not only addressing climate change but also creating opportunities for economic growth and social development,” Dr. Sani stated.
