•Peter Obi and Ralph Nwosu
As political parties began aligning and realigning ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ralph Nwosu, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said that in the past year, he has not seen Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja during the 97th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of ADC, Nwosu said if Obi appreciates what the party is doing and wants to join, their hands and their doors are open to welcome him.
Asked if the party is in alliance talk with any other political party, Nwosu disclosed that ADC is meeting with People’s Redemption Party (PRP) and other civil society organisations, reports Daily Independent.
Speaking on their resolutions at the NEC meeting, the ADC Chairman said, “one of the resolutions is that, we want to make the handshake across Nigeria at national ritual by October 1st, that ritual will take place in all the 36 states of the federation .
“The second resolution is that one of our guidelines provides that for you to contest election in ADC you must serve the party for two years, but because a lot of people are saying allow us work with the party, we are opening up, waving the two years for contesting election, if you join ADC today, you are free to contest elections or hold party office, so we are passing that resolution, you don’t have to stay two years.
“We, also contemplating having a national convention, that I must tell you, some of us explamplifed by my good self, will not contest for the National Chairman again. I don’t intend to run, I want to hand over to Nigerians who will mobilize over 80 million Nigerians, we want to approach the next political season with ordinary Nigerians with good quality and no corruption. Politicians who will look Nigerian to the face and say enough is enough.”
Asked if he’s meeting with Peter Obi, Nwosu said, “I have not seen Mr. Peter Obi for the past one year, we couldn’t be talking with him, but if he decides after seeing what we are doing, but what we are doing is not about politicians but Nigerian people. I am more interested in the African farmers club where we have over 10 million people. But, if he sees what we are doing in ADC and says enough is enough and wants to join us, we will open up our hands and absorb him, they are welcome, our door is open.
“We are meeting with PRP and other civil society organizations, this rituals of looking Nigerians in the face and saying enough is enough, we will beg Nigerians to accept them.”
