Court grants interim injunction in disputed Lekki land linked to Education minister

The FrontierThe FrontierMarch 23, 2026 601 Minutes read0

Justice Babatunde Oladapo Kalaro of the Lagos High Court has granted an interim injunction in a dispute over a Lekki property linked to a company reportedly owned by the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Olatunji Alausa.

The order was issued at the Lagos Judicial Division, Ikeja, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, and obtained yesterday by our correspondent, reports The Guardian.

The order followed an ex parte application brought before the court marked LD/5991LM/2026, by Advance Lincoln Limited against the Lagos State Government and three other defendants over the ownership and control of the land.

Defendants also include the Attorney General of Lagos State, the Land Use and Allocation Committee under the Lagos State Ministry of Lands, and Lincoln Advanced Radiology Service Limited.

The claimant seeks relief concerning a parcel of land measuring approximately 3,913.359 square metres situated at Lekki Peninsula Scheme II, Lagos State.

The land is subject to a Certificate of Occupancy dated April 11, 2014 and registered at the Lagos State Lands Registry.

After hearing the application, Justice Kalaro granted an interim injunction restraining the defendants, their agents, privies, or servants from further acts on the property.

The court specifically prohibited any act of trespass, sale, lease, alienation, or interference with the land pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The application was supported by an affidavit deposed to by Wale Arowosaye, a litigation officer, and was based on an ex parte motion dated February 24, 2026.

Counsel to the claimant, Akinlabi Apara moved the motion; however, no appearance was made by the defendants in court.

The court further directed parties to comply with the pre-action protocol and to maintain the status quo ante bellum on the property.

The claimant was ordered to serve the motion on notice and the court’s enrolled order on all defendants within seven days.

The case adjourned to April 17, 2026 for a compliance report.
