Court imprisons 21-year-old man for stealing fowl in Ogun

The FrontierThe FrontierFebruary 26, 2025 1870 Minutes read0

A magistrate’s court in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State has sentenced 21-year-old Adebanjo Segun to six months in prison for stealing a fowl.

In a statement released today, Ogbonnaya Dyke, the Public Relations Officer for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Ogun State Command, revealed this.

Segun’s problems allegedly started on February 19, 2025, when he was taken into custody for stealing a fowl, reports Daily Independent.

Investigations found that the convicted individual had committed a similar crime in December 2024, but was pardoned as an alleged first-time offender, according to Ogbonnaya.

The statement read: “Following the discovery of his previous offence, he was arraigned before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate’s Court on February 20, 2025, on a lone charge under Section 430 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, Nigeria, 2006.

“After pleading guilty before His Worship O.F. Adeduntan (Mrs.), he was convicted and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment.”
