•One of the fake investigators of EFCC, Buhari Abdullahi

The Kano Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, today, secured the conviction and sentence of two fake investigators of EFCC, Buhari Abdullahi and Umar Usman, before Justice Nasiru Saminu of the Kano State High Court.

The duo were arraigned on a one-count charge for falsely parading themselves as investigators of the EFCC, reports The PUNCH.

The charge specifically stated that they used a forged EFCC Identity Card in a desperate bid to lend credibility to their fraudulent impersonation, an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 132 of the Penal Code Law.

The charge reads ‘’That you Buhari Abdullahi and Umar Mukhtar Usman sometime in May 2025 at Kano within the jurisdiction of this honourable court falsely impersonated to be investigators of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) where you used false identity card and paraded yourselves as staff of EFCC and you thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 132 of the Penal Code law.

Upon arraignment, the defendants pleaded “guilty’’ to the charge.

In light of their guilty pleas, prosecution counsel, Idris I. Haruna presented the facts of the case and urged the court to convict them accordingly.

Consequently, Justice Saminu convicted Abdullahi and Usman, both sentenced them to six months imprisonment with an option of a fine of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) each.

The two convicts bagged their imprisonment when they were arrested by operatives of the EFCC. They were charged to court and jailed.
