FAAN to commence cashless payments at airport gates, car parks, VIP lounges

The FrontierThe FrontierSeptember 26, 2025 1600 Minutes read0

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced that starting September 29, 2025, all payments at its revenue points, including airport access gates, car parks, and VIP and protocol lounges, will be conducted electronically.

In a statement today, the agency said the initiative was part of efforts to modernise operations, promote transparency, and align Nigeria’s airports with global digital standards.

FAAN explained that passengers can obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at access gates in Lagos and Abuja, reports The Guardian.

“FAAN, in partnership with Paystack, is proud to announce the roll-out of Operation Go Cashless, a contactless payment solution across all airports beginning with Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja,” the statement read.

The agency said cash payments at designated points will be phased out, adding that the move will deliver faster, more secure, and seamless services to travellers and airport users.

“To ease the transition, trained brand ambassadors have been deployed at access gates and around the terminals to guide users, assist with onboarding, provide demonstrations, and answer questions they may have,” FAAN said.
