Criticise me but don’t lose faith in Nigeria — Tinubu

The FrontierThe FrontierJune 12, 2026 350 Minutes read0

•Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remain committed to the country’s progress, even in the face of criticism, challenges, and differing opinions about governance.

He stated that constructive criticism is not only welcome but necessary for leadership and national development, noting that accountability and public scrutiny are essential parts of a functioning democracy.

However, he cautioned that such criticism should not translate into despair or loss of confidence in the Nigerian project, reports The Guardian.

According to him, citizens have every right to question government actions, challenge policies, and demand better performance, but must continue to believe in the possibility of a stronger, more united, and prosperous Nigeria.

He emphasised that nation-building requires collective effort from both leaders and citizens, stressing that progress often comes through difficult decisions, disagreements, and reforms that may not always be immediately popular.

The president’s message was also a call for resilience, urging Nigerians not to be discouraged by present challenges but to remain engaged and hopeful about the country’s future direction.
