Cultists paraded for abduction, killing of 2 in Osun

•Osun PPRO, Yemisi Opalola

Yesterday, Osun State Police Command paraded three cult members of the Aye Confraternity for allegedly abduction and killing of two middle-aged men, Kelechi Agha and Tega Robinson, at Iperindo in the Atakumosa East local government area of the state.

The evil perpetrators, who were later apprehended by the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for a discreet investigation of the command, are said to have confessed to the crime, reports Saturday Tribune.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, explained that complainants of the missing Children were first reported at Iperindo Police Station that their children left their homes for their mining sites and did not return before the case was transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for discreet investigation.

She, however, hinted that “Credible Intelligence revealed that members of Aye confraternity were sighted freely moving around with dangerous weapons on that day, which led the detectives to search the hideouts of the cultists, where one locally banned pistol and a black mask were found and registered as exhibit.”

”Subsequently, the detectives on rescue mission later apprehended one Bode Owoeye, a.k.a. “Bode Itaapa,” who was identified as a member of Aye confraternity and is on a wanted list of Osun State. “During the interrogation, he confessed that other members of his Aye confraternity were responsible for the abduction and killing of the victims inside the bush. He also admitted that his group was the political thugs working for one Honourable Sanya Omirin, who usually gives them instructions through another wanted cultist, Adefioye Solomon, a.k.a. Solo Iwara, who is responsible for so many killings within the Ilesha axis.

“Also, he confessed that they attacked one Honourable Ayodeji Olaolu, the APC candidate, during the election into the House of Representatives in 2023, at the party secretariat and shot him in his head and chest. He further revealed that the confraternity had over 30 pump-action rifles, which were mostly procured before the 2023 election.

“Subsequently, the detectives arrested one Samuel David, who was mentioned to be a member of Aye confraternity involved in the killing of one Ibrahin Taiwo, a.k.a. Omo-Alhaja. During the investigations, the suspect mentioned his five fellow hit-men under Kehinde Itaapa who stormed the venue of the PDP rally on February 21, 2023, and killed the deceased.

“In the course of the investigation, one of the complainants came to report that she was the mother of the late Taiwo Adebiyi, a.k.a. Omo-Alhaja, and alleged one Shittu Lekan, a.k.a. Araba, to be the killer of his son. Samuel David later took the detectives to Oke-Eta village, where he kept one pump action gun given to him by Bode Owoeye to perpetrate the crime, and it was recovered as an exhibit.

“Olabode Owoeye stated further that he bought the gun from Mukaila Lateef, who is his arm dealer, who illegally sold some guns to him. Meanwhile, efforts are still ongoing to arrest the fleeing members. The suspects will be charged to court on the completion of the investigation”, she added.

Opalola later disclosed that dangerous weapons like one last Cally-made pistol with three live cartridges, one single barrel gun, and one pump action gun, including an unregistered motorcycle, one unregistered highlander jeep, a black face mask, some Cally-made criminal charms, and two cross bags, were recovered from criminals.

When contacted, Hon. Sanya Omirin denied that he was the one using the cultists as political thugs.

He pointed out that they were all APC members till the election period before later decamped to the PDP, saying they were instructed by the opposition party to indict him in order to bring his dignity to the dustbin and portray him as a killer before the entire world.

Also, the state police command paraded a middle-aged man for being in possession of a human body.

According to the command, “after a tip-off, the actionable efforts led the detectives to the arrest of one Adegboye Opeyemi ‘m’ of No. 37, Ifedayo Street, Oke-Baale Area, Osogbo.

“During the search, some bones suspected to be human parts were recovered. During the interrogation, the suspect confessed that he got those human parts from his friend, who works in a cemetery in Lagos, and brought them to Osogbo for money ritual purposes. Meanwhile, efforts are still ongoing to arrest the conspirators. The suspect will be charged in court on the completion of the investigations.”
