Persons who specialise in playing recorded music for an audience during ceremonies, parties, and other social events, commonly known as disc jockeys today stormed Kangiwa Square in Katsina State to protest their eight-month ban by the State Hisbah Board.

They appealed to the state government to allow them to conduct their lawful business free from distraction, stating that, their property worth millions of Naira has been seized by the state Islamic police, reports Channels TV.

The placards-carrying protesters lamented that it has been over eight months since the Hisbah Board seized their musical instruments worth millions of Naira.

Their protest coincided with the official commissioning of the Kofar Soro-Kofar Guga Road dualisation performed by Governor Dikko Radda, at the Kangiwa Square, in Katsina Metropolis.

The 1.2 kilometre road project which was, flagged off by the governor on March 13, 2024, was initially awarded by the Aminu Masari-led administration.

Governor Radda explained that the project constituted a pivotal component of the urban renewal initiatives spearheaded by the current state administration toward the development and enhancement of the community’s infrastructure.
