Easter: Defence chief reaffirms military’s commitment to national security

•Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa

As Christians across Nigeria celebrate Easter, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to national security, peace, and stability.

In his Easter message today, Musa described the season as one of deep reflection and renewal, reports The PUNCH.

He urged members of the AFN to draw strength from the message of Easter—sacrifice, courage, and triumph over adversity, the qualities he said are vital in the fight to secure the country.

“Every day, our troops embody the spirit of Easter through their selfless service, unwavering dedication, and loyalty to the nation. Their commitment to peace and security remains the bedrock of Nigeria’s stability,” he said.

Musa paid tribute to fallen military personnel who paid the ultimate price in defence of the country.

He also prayed for the speedy recovery of wounded soldiers and comfort for their families, while reaffirming that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

He stated, “This Easter, let us remember our fallen comrades. May their memories remain eternal, and may their bravery continue to inspire us.

“We must also use this period to renew our commitment to discipline, professionalism, and the strategic objectives of the Armed Forces.”

He noted that while the country continues to face complex security challenges, he remains confident in the capacity of the military to overcome them.

“As the Chief of Defence Staff, I remain proud of our men and women in uniform. Together, we will continue to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty with honour and dignity,” he added.

Musa also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his unwavering support and leadership in enhancing national security and building a safer, more prosperous Nigeria.

He, however, prayed that the Easter season brings renewed strength, divine protection, and guidance to all security personnel in the discharge of their duties.
