•Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State

The Ekiti State Government and labour leaders in the state have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the payment of N70,000 wage approved by the federal government.

Addressing journalists today at a brief ceremony in Ado-Ekiti, the Head of Service, Dr Folakemi Olomojobi confirmed that the payment would commence immediately.

The HoS hailed the state governor, Biodun Oyebanji for the commencement of the payment regardless of the minimal resources of the state.

In their remarks, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman, Comrade Sola Adigun and his Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) counterpart, Comrade Olatunde Kolapo commended Oyebanji for doing the needful, while confirming that the new minimum wage cut across all cadres, parastatals, agencies and pensioners.

The Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) Chairman, Comrade Femi Ajoloko said the subsequent adjustment of Ekiti was a fair deal, hailing the state’s helmsman for his magnanimity towards workers in the state.
