Emir Sanusi to turban eldest son as Ciroman Kano

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 23, 2024 2551 Minutes read0

•Emir Sanusi

The 16th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has concluded arrangements for turbaning his first son as the Ciroman of Kano, a title considered to be for the crown prince or heir apparent.

Ciroman is a title of significant cultural and political importance in the Kano Emirate as it traditionally represents an individual’s direct lineage rights, coupled with oversight to manage certain districts, reports Daily Trust.

The Emir’s father, Ambassador Aminu Sanusi, held the title until his death in the 1990s.

The last holder of the title was Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, who was made Emir of Bichi in 2020 but removed after four years on the throne.

Sanusi’s son, a serving police officer with the rank of DSP, will be honoured alongside nine others on Friday, November 25, 2024.

They include Mahmud Aminu Yusufu, new Mai Unguwar Mundubawa; Dr. Abubakar Sanusi Usman Shehu II as Dan Galadiman Kano, and Alhaji Abubakar Aminu Sanusi (Wambai) is to serve as Dan Madami.

Others include Arch. Ali Muktar, Sa’in Kano; Sarki Yusuf Bayero ‘Yan Daka; Abdullahi Idris Bayero, Fagacin Kano; Ado Abdullahi Aminu, Kaigaman Kano; Idris Sanusi, Sarkin Sullubawa; Mansur Isa Bayero, Sarkin Kudu; and Abdullahi Sarki Mohammed, Sarkin Yamma.
