Empty roads in Kano as Supreme Court rules in guber election dispute

The FrontierThe FrontierJanuary 12, 2024 3910 Minutes read0

Major roads in Kano State are currently deserted over the gubernatorial dispute between Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Dr Nasiru Gawuna.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Yusuf of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) as winner of the March 18 2023 election, but the All Progressives Congress (APC) under which Gawuna contested had challenged Yusuf’s victory in court, securing victory at the tribunal and appeal court.

Dissatisfied, Yusuf filed an appeal at the Supreme Court, which is expected to rule any moment from now, reports Daily Trust.

Although the judgment is ongoing in Abuja, the streets of Kano are empty.
