•Babangida and Buhari
Former President Muhammadu Buhari was prominently absent at the unveiling of the autobiography of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, former head of state, titled “A Journey in Service”, which launched in Abuja.
The book launch had in attendance all past presidents/military heads of state, including President Bola Tinubu, reports Vanguard.
Recall that Babangida nicknamed Evil Genius led some other military officers in a coup d’état to topple the military regime of then General Buhari on August 27, 1985.
Seated at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hotel were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was the chairman of the occasion; former heads of state Generals Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalam Abubakar; and former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Also in attendance were former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Namadi Sambo and Yemi Osibanjo. The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in 2023 and former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, and the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The keynote speaker was Nana Akufo-Addo, former President of Ghana, and his counterpart, the former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Koroma, also graced the occasion.
Governors, captains of industry, the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, industrialists, technocrats and traditional rulers.
Apart from the unveiling of the autobiography, the former head of state used the occasion for his presidential library fundraising.
