EXCLUSIVE: Actor-turned-politician Emeka Ike sues FCT Minister Wike’s aide Lere Olayinka, INEC for N10 billion

Renowned Nollywood actor now politician, Emeka Ike, has sued Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Emeka is jointly suing Olayinka and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the first and second respondents, respectively, for N10 billion.

In the originating motion dated today, Monday, June 15, 2026 with a copy made available to The Frontier, the actor, through his lawyer, Leonard T. Adeh Esq of Nguavese Chambers in Abuja, is praying the Federal High Court in Abuja to grant him eleven reliefs, including N10 billion as “aggravated and general damages”.

Emeka Ike is also asking for a declaration by the court that “the post and publication intentionally made by the 1st respondent on his social media X handle, @OlayinkaLere, on the 30th of May 2026, which contains screenshots from the INEC restricted portal and secured database of the Applicant’s personal voter information and Private data, statutorily secured and protected under the INEC’s backend portal and database, having been accessed, exploited and published without the authority or consent of the Applicant, amounts to gross breach and violation of the Applicant’s fundamental right to privacy and protection of personal data, respectively guaranteed under section 37 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), Article 12 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and sections 24 and 39 of the Nigeria Data Protection Act of 2023.”
