The children of Madam Muniratu Saka-Itogbe (nee Abdulsalam Balogun), have drawn the attention of the Lagos State Government and the Inspector General of Police to the forcible takeover and demolition of their mother’s property located at No. 24, Olojo Drive, Ojo Town, Lagos State.
The children said the ongoing reconstruction of a new structure on the site which has been in contention since last year is not at their instance, but one Erinfolami aka Adakeja, whom they alleged of working in conivance with some interests within the Saka-Itogbe family whom she said are taking advantage of their closeness to the palace of the monarch of the town, reports The Nation.
The spokesperson of the family Mrs. Tawa Alege (nee Balogun), said she and her siblings are daily being subjected to consistent harassment and threats over the property of their widowed mother who had been surviving from the little proceeds she receives as rent from a house she erected on the property.
She recalled that in November last year (2022) matters over the property were taken to the palace of the Olojo of Ojo, who, after a series of interventions and deliberations, directed that no party must trespass on the said property until all contentious issues were fully resolved.
Alege said about a month ago, she and her siblings suddenly noticed that the said property had been cordoned off. She said she and her siblings were shocked when they realised a few days afterward, that some thugs with a bulldozer levelled their mother’s building.
